A variety of features will be visible during the installation of an auto garage door opener. Some of these features may be considered essential and, as a result, are included with the majority of openers.
Other features are generally regarded as desirable rather than necessary and are thus only included upon request. Most of the following features can make a garage door opener more convenient for modern homeowners in a variety of ways:
One of the most convenient aspects of an electric garage door is that its movements can be controlled remotely. Auto Garage door openers are typically controlled by wall-mounted buttons or keypads, into which you enter a private code to open or close the door.
The remote control is usually included to allow opening and closing from the inside. Furthermore, most homeowners use handheld remotes to activate the door from outside. Most wall mounts are designed to work with both single and multiple garage door units.
- Release manually
There may be times when you prefer to raise and lower the garage door by hand rather than using the remote control. In such cases, the manual release feature of the auto garage door opener allows you to disconnect the door from its electric mechanisms.
This allows you to raise the door to whatever height you require at any given time. For example, if you’re doing work inside your garage that requires ventilation, you can use the manual release button to raise the door a couple of feet off the ground.
- Light for security
It’s nice to have light from above as you walk or drive your vehicle through an open garage door, whether you’re coming or going. Modern auto garage door openers are typically equipped with security lights that turn on automatically when the door is activated.
When you pull your car into the garage after dark, you can easily see your way inside. The security light, like regular garage lights, will turn off after a few minutes of inactivity.
- Rail segments
The driving functions of a garage door are attached at a 90-degree angle between the door and the garage ceiling. Most auto garage door openers include rail segments that fit doors up to seven feet tall. As long as there is no corrosion or mishandling, rail segments can last for many years.
- Keychain remote control
Most auto garage door openers come with miniature remote devices that can fit on your keychain for remote activation of your garage door from your car or from inside your house.
When you pull into your driveway, you don’t have to get out of your car to open the door; instead, you can use the keychain control. If you don’t like waiting for your garage door to open, you can even open it from down the block.
- Motors with soft activation
A soft motor can make operations easier if you are concerned about the wear that garage door openers endure over time. A soft-start/stop motor activates the door with less noise or vibration, resulting in less wear and tear over time.
A soft-activation motor, as is customary, can help your auto garage door opener last longer and require less maintenance over time.
